All You Ever Wanted to Know About Insurance

Distracted Driving

DISTRACTED DRIVING is not just about teenage texting. Almost half a million people were injured in auto accidents during 2009 while being distracted while driving, with 16% of that number resulting in fatalities.

Your employees using their cell phones and other devices for business, while driving may appear to be more productive, are putting themselves and others at risk -  including your business.   As an employer you could find yourself being responsible for liability judgments, disability or workers’ compensation claims because your employee was distracted by using a hand-held cell phone or similar device at the time of an accident.

The National Safety Council is offering free Cell Phone Policy Kit for employers to assist in establishing your firm’s own policy regarding employee use of cell phones and similar devices while driving on your company’s business.  Visit this site:  www.nsc.org/safety_road/Distracted_driving/pages/Employerpolicies.aspx.
